"The role of Director of Nursing and Professions is critically important to our future and we require an exceptional clinical leader who can build on our solid foundations and lead our talented and dedicated staff as we develop health and care services."

Brent Kilmurray, Chief Executive

Welcome from Brent Kilmurray, Chief Executive

Thank you for showing interest in Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCT) and our Director of Nursing and Professions appointment. I joined the Trust almost 7 months ago and I have been struck by the energy, passion and enthusiasm of our workforce. BDCT is a vibrant and dynamic organisation and I hope the information in this recruitment microsite provides you with a flavour of our values, achievements, challenges and aspirations.

We are a leading provider of mental and physical healthcare services and of specialist learning disability services all predominantly delivered in the community. We aim to provide the best possible care for the growing and dynamic populations of Bradford, Airedale and Craven and to be recognised as one of the country’s leading providers of integrated community healthcare services. We employ over 3,000 staff and have an annual income of circa £138 million. Our focus is on working with our diverse communities to provide outstanding care.

The role of Director of Nursing and Professions is critically important to our future and we require an exceptional clinical leader who can build on our solid foundations and lead our talented and dedicated staff as we develop health and care services for our population that are fit for the future. We are an open and collaborative organisation recognised in the wider health and care system locally and regionally for developing productive and transparent relationships with our partners. We work closely with our communities, services users, carers, other health and social care providers in the public, independent and voluntary sectors, our commissioners and are playing a key role in the development of the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care System as well as the wider West Yorkshire and Harrogate system.

We have enjoyed significant success and we continue to be recognised by our service users and regulators for the caring and responsive nature of our services, however we also know there is more to do. Our 2018 CQC inspection highlighted some of the areas where we have faced pressures particularly in ensuring consistency in our training, record keeping and supervision levels. We are actively addressing these issues; strengthening our governance and our clinical leadership model, and as a learning organisation we are continually seeking to improve. We have recently refreshed our Strategy, following significant consultation with our stakeholders and have begun to develop a Trust wide improvement methodology.  In this role, you will play a key leadership role, with board colleagues, in implementing and embedding these critical and exciting changes.

Our new Director of Nursing and Professions will need to be a transformational leader who brings a strong understanding of our wide range of services, a track record of delivering exemplary clinical governance and a passion for enabling high quality healthcare in partnership with our communities and the wider system.

If you feel excited by the opportunity to work with us and lead an exciting agenda with a highly motivated Board of Directors, then do read further and call our recruitment partners Michelle Shirley or Emma Pickup at GatenbySanderson on        0113 205 6296   to discuss your interest

I look forward to meeting you during the process.

Yours sincerely

Brent Kilmurray
